Am I on Candid Camera?

You're gonna think I'm making this up, but I swear to God I'm not.

Today I went to my favorite aesthetician for a bikini wax. (If this information makes you squirmy, DO NOT keep reading... 'cause it's gonna get a whole lot worse.) Getting a bikini wax is a very sensitive situation because it requires you to be naked from the waist down in order to provide access to the necessary follicles. Fortunately, my waxer is fantastic and makes me feel totally and completely comfortable and not at all embarrassed. So I'm lying there thinking of Steve Carell in the 40-Year-Old Virgin when there is a knock on the door. My waxer says very clearly, "Don't come in!" to which the person on the other side of the door says, "Come in?" and opens the door. Sorry, let me repeat that. SHE OPENS THE DOOR!!!! Did I mention I'm lying there HALF-NAKED?!?! My waxer practically hurdles the table I'm lying on to slam the door closed in the receptionist's face. She starts to apologize profusely while I wonder what's going to happen now that I've glued my legs together with hot wax in an attempt to hastily cover my ladyparts. This is not going to be pretty.

Apparently, the receptionist went out into the salon and told everyone about the free peep show in the waxing room because not 10 minutes later THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!!! When a third person knocked and tried to jiggle the locked doorknob, I started looking around for a hidden camera. My waxer swore over and over again that this never happens, which evidently means I'm just.that.lucky.

In better news, I got a serious discount.

Who Moved My Door?

So, today when I got home from work, there was a hole in my wall. Normally a 7in x 11in hole in my kitchen wall would concern me, but luckily, this hole was actually our new dog door. A dog door is really a necessity for us because, as wonderful as my darling puppy dog is, holding her bladder for 8 hours until one of us comes home from work is not one of her strong suits. For the last 6 months we have had one of the dog door panels that fits into a sliding glass door, however there are several drawbacks to this type of door:

1) You don't get a tight seal between the dog door panel and the actual sliding glass door. This lets in copious amounts of dust in addition to wind whistling so loudly it brings to mind munchkinland and ruby slippers. Aforementioned gap also lets out our precious heat in the winter so that the upstairs is a toasty 75 degrees while the downstairs is colder than the polar ice caps.

2) With the panel in the way, we can no longer properly lock the sliding door. Instead, all that is standing between a potential burglar and my flat screen TV is a tiny little bolt on the back of the sliding portion. This does not fill me with confidence. Especially at night.

3) With the dog door filling up half the width of the door opening, you have to turn sideways and suck in a deep breath when going through the door. After about 3 or 4 trips to the backyard to check the BBQ, I start to hyperventilate.

Needless to say, this was not the most ideal situation. So, today we had a real dog door installed in the wall. Great for us... not so great for the dog. After 6 months of going in and out the same door, she can't seem to figure out that her new one is 8 inches to the left. When we put her outside to use the facilities, she couldn't figure out how to get back in and scratched at the glass where her door used to be until I stuck my head out her new door and scared her to death. I think this is going to take a lot more practice. But with a dog this cute...
...it's worth it.
